Resilience
Inspired by a field of sunflowers in late fall with a few still colorful among the brown, this painting was created as a tribute to the resilience of the Ukrainian people during this terrible war. I chose to add life to the painting with birds perched on the flower stems in poses of strength. One bird, a European blue tit, happens to be the color of the Ukrainian flag and perches in a perfect defensive pose.
I also must credit a Ukrainian man named Igor, who inspired me by creating Resilience centers in Kiev during this struggle.
